Our Values

The Puente Alto Fire Department is guided by a set of core values that shape our actions and decisions:

HONOR: This refers to fulfilling one’s own duties as well as those toward others. It centers on the most intimate and noble concept of human dignity.
LOYALTY: We are faithful, truthful, and trustworthy. There are no corporate defenses. We must know how to protect the institution, but not at the cost of becoming accomplices to wrongdoing.
DISCIPLINE: It is the free and voluntary acceptance of fully fulfilling one’s obligations in every area.
COURAGE: The willpower a person possesses to fulfill their duty despite fears or obstacles.
TOLERANCE: Respect for the ideas, beliefs, or practices of others when they differ from or contradict one’s own.
CIVIC-MINDEDNESS: We were born from the heart of the community; therefore, we owe a debt to it. We live by civic conduct, respecting differences—what is different is not the enemy.
RESPECT FOR PEOPLE, TRADITIONS, AND INSTITUTIONS: People build a legacy that we preserve and strive to keep alive. Traditions are reminders of the past that connect us to our origins and compel us to remember who we are: without tradition, there is no history, no identity, and no meaning.
