Youth Brigades

The Puente Alto Fire Department’s Youth Brigades provide a space to nurture compassionate, honest, responsible individuals who are committed to society. They are designed for boys and girls and teenagers between the ages of 14 and 18, who, through games and “firefighting training,” reinforce values such as respect and tolerance to foster healthy community living.
In 2024, we worked alongside instructors from the First and Third Companies to plan activities, with the primary objective being the creation of the Youth Brigade Regulations. This initiative aims to provide greater structure and clarity regarding these programs so that the Companies can incorporate them into their firefighting operations.
Another of the year’s most significant milestones was the update to the Procedure for Volunteer Firefighter Candidates, which for the first time included the rank of “Cadet” for those brigade members who, upon turning 18, wish to join the institution, offering an alternative route to entry compared to traditional processes.
