Fourth Company

Our History

The Fourth Fire Company of Puente Alto, known as“Bomba Cordillera, was founded on October 16, 1980, by Manuel Sayes Sayes and Juan Apiolaza Olea. Our first fire station, located on Elisa Correa Street, marked the beginning of our history, established in response to the rapid urban and population growth in the municipality of Puente Alto. Its creation strengthened the operational coverage of the Puente Alto Fire Department, especially in areas near the foothills, where access and the vast territory required a permanent firefighting presence. From its inception, the Company has been characterized by its spirit of service, community commitment, and volunteerism, quickly becoming a cornerstone of safety for the community.

Throughout its history, the Fourth Company has played a significant role in responding to structural fires, rescue emergencies, traffic accidents, and various hazardous situations affecting the public. Today, our fire station is located at 2820 Barquito Street, at the corner of Luis Mate Larraín Street. This strategic location provides us with extensive coverage throughout the municipality of Puente Alto.

In 2014, the company began its journey toward specializing in hazardous materials (HAZMAT), a goal it achieved and has consolidated over the years as a valuable contribution to the response to these types of emergencies in the municipalities of Puente Alto and Pirque.

Thanks to the ongoing training of its volunteers, along with the gradual modernization of its major equipment and gear, the Cordillera Fire Station has successfully adapted to new operational demands while maintaining high standards of preparedness and response. This growth has been made possible through collaboration with other fire stations.

Today, with more than 45 years of service, the Fourth Company represents much more than an emergency unit: it is a place of training, camaraderie, and selfless dedication, considered by many of its members as a second home. True to its tradition and the institutional values of the Fire Department, the Cordillera Fire Station continues to fulfill its mission with honor, discipline, and a dedication to service, looking toward the future with a commitment to continue protecting lives and property, always at the service of the Puente Alto community.
